Public Art Nonprofit Albus Cavus Selected to Create a Mural for TV Show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
(Washington, DC) — Albus Cavus is working with ABC Network’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to create a mural for one of the show’s forthcoming projects in DC, a new home for DC’s The Fishing School, a nonprofit youth development organization in northeast D.C.
“The Albus Cavus vision is to transform communities with creativity and art,” says Albus Cavus Director Peter Krsko. “It’s a natural fit to work with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, because we both want to change lives for the better and lift up communities through service. Working with The Fishing School will be inspiring and contribute to youth development.”
Five artists working with Albus Cavus — Decoy, Tim Conlon, Chor Boogie, Cristian Baez, Aniekan Udofia and Chanel Compton — will be leading the group’s work with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The five are experienced muralists whose works can be described as “breathtaking and visionary.” Albus Cavus recently completed work on DC’s largest public mural, “From Edgewood to the Edge of the World.” The organization partnered with the DC Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program and guided 40 young people to create the mural.
“We love to work with young people and inspire them to create art in their communities,” says Krsko. “Our hope is that everyone who sees the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition show with Albus Cavus learns about making the world a better place with art and creativity. We are excited by the challenge to work the show and create art magic under a tight deadline.”
Albus Cavus (albuscav.us) is a public arts non-profit with a mission to transform communities with art and creativity. Albus Cavus is an international collective of artists, educators and visionaries who work primarily in public space. Our installations physically beautify the neighborhoods and also promote development of healthy and strong communities through interactive events.
The Emmy award winning reality program “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” now in its 7th season, is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. It’s executive-produced by Anthony Dominici. David Goldberg is Chairman, Endemol North America. The show airs Sundays from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET on ABC.
