albus cavus – white cave (latin) – refers to the basement where the first shows were held.
Albus Cavus was originally started as a small basement exhibit space that gradually grew into an international collective of artists, educators and visionaries who work primarily in public space. Our installations physically beautify the neighborhoods and also promote development of healthy and strong communities through interactive events.

More Than 100 to Paint Mural in D.C. Neighborhood
Associated Press, 8/15/09
“Organizers say that over the past two months, D.C. artists have been helping a group of young people from the D.C. Commission on Arts and Humanities’ Summer Youth Employment Program create “From Edgewood to the Edge of the World.”
The public art nonprofit Albus Cavus says the almost-complete 300-foot-wide piece serves as the mural’s anchor. The group says that at the event Saturday other artists will expand it by another 300 feet with their own creation.
